Cowes Town Walk
As part of our 'Made on the Isle of Wight' topic, Year 3 took a stroll through Cowes. We used our best observational skills to find spot similarities and differences between the past and present day.
First we stopped off at Arctic Park - Did you know there used to be a railway line from Cowes to Newport? We thought about what this could be used for now!
Next we walked down to the floating bridge. It's not there at the moment as a new bridge is due to be in place next week. There is building work going on to make the slip way wider! We talked about how the floating bridge used to be powered a long time ago and how the new one may be different.
After this we took a stroll through the town, stopping at Various points to think about what buildings used to be for or to listen to Mr Andre's stories!
Eventually we made it down to the parade. It is much quieter down there in the winter! Again, we talk about similarities and differences between Cowes in the summer and winter. We also found out that there used to be a pier!
